A zero-point positioning system is a precision locating and clamping system used to establish a repeatable reference between a CNC machine, fixture, pallet, or workpiece. It allows compatible fixtures and pallets to be positioned and changed quickly without repeating the complete alignment process.
A zero-point clamping system is used for repeatable fixture positioning, pallet changeover and CNC workholding. It is commonly used in machining centers, 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines, automated production cells and flexible manufacturing systems.
A pneumatic zero-point clamping system uses compressed air to release the clamping mechanism. Once the fixture or pallet is correctly positioned, the mechanical locking mechanism secures it in the predefined reference position. Pneumatic actuation makes the system suitable for quick fixture changeover and automated workholding applications.
Traditional fixture clamping often requires manual positioning, alignment and verification each time a fixture is changed. A zero-point positioning system uses a standardized locating interface to establish a repeatable reference, allowing compatible fixtures or pallets to be exchanged more efficiently.
Yes. Zero-point positioning systems can be integrated with 5-axis CNC machining applications when the locating, clamping force, fixture height and machine-table configuration are correctly selected. They are particularly useful where multiple fixture orientations and frequent setup changes are required.
Yes. Pneumatic and automated zero-point positioning systems can be integrated into CNC automation, robotic loading and unloading, pallet handling and flexible manufacturing systems. The appropriate configuration depends on the machine, fixture, pallet, robot and control requirements.
The positioning repeatability depends on the model, locating interface, installation accuracy and application conditions. SET offers zero-point positioning configurations designed for high-precision CNC workholding, with some applicable configurations specified at repeatability levels of 0.005 mm or better. Please refer to the individual product drawing and technical specifications for the exact value.
Zero-point positioning systems can be configured for a variety of fixtures, pallets, vises, workholding plates and customized tooling. The fixture interface must match the locating and clamping configuration of the selected zero-point system.
Yes. Zero-point positioning systems can be configured according to machine-table dimensions, T-slot or mounting requirements, fixture size, locating interface, clamping force, pneumatic requirements and automation conditions. SET also provides customized workholding solutions for specific machining and automation applications.
Zero-point positioning systems are used in CNC machining, mold manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, precision machining, aerospace components, industrial automation and flexible manufacturing. They are suitable for applications requiring repeatable positioning, quick fixture changeover and standardized workholding.
Yes. A zero-point system can reduce the positioning and alignment work required when changing compatible fixtures or pallets. The actual time savings depend on the machine, fixture design, production process and operator workflow. For high-mix or frequent-changeover production, standardized zero-point workholding can significantly simplify setup operations.
The correct zero-point positioning system depends on the CNC machine, fixture or pallet size, required repeatability, clamping force, locating configuration, installation method, pneumatic or manual operation, and automation requirements. For a suitable configuration, provide the machine-table dimensions, fixture information, load requirements and application details to SET.
